Grow your own

That's it, I need a house. And maybe not in Texas, either. See, I want to start a little garden. A nice little vegetable garden, plus herbs, maybe even some strawberries. Growing my own food would mean less reliance on corporate agribusiness and all its evils. It would mean having much more control over what I put into my body. It would mean a sense of pride, accomplishment. The joy of creating something in collaboration with the earth. Learning every day. Adapting. Becoming more invested in my own life. Practicing what I preach about sustainability, eating local, eating the freshest, most nutritionally rich produce I can. And I think it would be fun. Challenging, but fun. I've gotta give this some more thought, but if I can manage it in the next few years, I'm going to get started in my own backyard and take it from there. Who knows where it will take me?

Here are a few articles I found via my How To widget on iGoogle.
